At YG we’ve spent the past few days scavenging every post and article about Baselworld 2017. A beautiful watch is a must have in any man’s wardrobe, and no matter how much money you have; we have you covered. We gathered a few pictures from our favourite horology blogs (Hodinkee & A Blog To Watch) and decided to put up a post with the most impressive pieces.
Finding the perfect a rather tough task. When you’re going to spend so much money and time on an object you might as well know the story behind it.
Club Campus by Nomos
This watch is powered by Nomos’ alpha movement, which has proven to be extremely reliable and requires low maintenance. Entitled Club Campus, Nomos is aiming at fresh-off-the-boat college graduates. Perfect for someone who wants to purchase a remarkable watch for a great value (bang for the buck is the word here). This new series has three watches in two different sizes, 36mm and 38mm (EUR1000 and EUR1100, respectively). At this price point it is extremely hard to find another watch of similar quality with an in-house movement. Nomos even offers free engraving, in case you wanna send this as a gift to someone or just engrave your initials on it. You can purchase this watch here.
Cellini Moonphase by Rolex
Have you ever looked at something and thought that its design just could not get any better? Rolex lovers can get many things in life that most people can’t. One thing they simply could not get was a non-vintage Rolex with the moonphase complication. That’s all about to change. At a very classy 39mm, this watch is perfect for those who want history, class and status all at the same time. Best of all? You’ll only need to adjust the complication once every 122 years. This chronometer certified is not for all of you though. It comes at a hefty EUR24.900, but if you have some (a lot) spare money go ahead. Also make sure to share with us lots of pictures. Read more about it here.
Rolex’s Sky-Dweller is not exactly new. Rolex first introduced it in 2012 as a completely new watch (They hadn’t done that in a while). Not only it was a completely new reference, it was also the most complicated one. You can now purchase this beauty for almost half the price of the previous versions (Still not cheap, though: CHF13.700). You can now have a Sky-Dweller in two tones (steel and gold) with a steel bracelet (instead of leather only). Not bad for an annual calendar and GMT, if I must say. Additionally you can read more about this here.
Longines Heritage 1945
This is Longines’ new Heritage 1945. Relaunching old watches is a trend that many houses are abiding to. Have you ever looked at an old sports car and wondered what would happen if you were to put a brand new 2017 v12 in it? This is what happened. Apart from this is a Rolls-Royce and not a Porsche. The almost two century old watch house may not have the same name and recognition it had back in the day. But boy is this a nice watch. Remade to fit a new size with a newer movement, this guy looks straight out of your local vintage watch shop. At just USD1.700 this is a bargain. Rocking an ETA 2895/2 (another reason for the low price) this watch is set to outlast you. It will also look like it’s already outlasted your father as well.
